When having your home remodeled, you, as the consumer, should always ask for referrals for contractors from family or friends before doing any work on your home. If you can’t get referrals from people you know, then start your search and always ask the contractor if they are licensed and insured. If they are, they will be proud to show you their contractor’s license and insurance certificate. Next, ask the contractor for the names of recent customers, including addresses and phone numbers. Go and see the contractor’s work and talk to their customers. Ask the customer how did they like the contractor, was the contractor on time every day, did they work every day until work was completed and, most of all, was the work completed according to their wishes and was the job preformed in a professional manner and are they happy?
Always get a written contract with all the work outlined right down to the smallest detail. You don’t want the contractor saying, “I’m sorry, that was not included.”
Imagine if your job turned out wrong. What would you wished you asked the contractor before you hired them?
