Complete bathroom remodeling in older homes usually requires demolition of the floor, walls and ceiling. In older homes it’s always a good idea to install new plumbing under the floor with leads extending up about a foot and also Shoring up any old lumber that might need attention. Now that this is taken care of it is time to place 3/4" tongue and groove plywood over the newly leveled wood joist and plumb the walls and framing a level ceiling. If the contractor builds the framing like a perfectly square box the floor and walls tiles will finish evenly in each row.
